K is for kids… and the things they say
The kids have VBS this week and they are loving it. Each day they learn a new “live it” verse and song. They are divided by school-aged group – so the girls are in different groups. There are several middle school kids helping out with each sub-group – so there are only about 3-5 kids in each sub-group and about 50-60 kids in each grade… yep, that makes for over 400 kids at this shin-dig.
Pig Will has a boy as her leader. He is probably in about 5th or 6th grade. Since it is summer and summer clothes are easy to put together, I let them pick out what they want to wear and they get themselves dressed for the day. I went to the bottom of the steps yesterday to yell up and ask them if they were ready to go… and overheard Pig Will saying that she had to look good for her leader. She came down in a jeans skirt and a blue polo shirt. Very mature and polished. (Major Laugh Out Loud!) I didn’t let her know that I had heard her. Later that day I overheard them talking about their leaders to each other. Pig Will again mentioned that “Tyler” was a great leader and she had to make sure she looked good for him. Oh boy… I can’t believe that my 7 year old is talking this way! We need to have “the talk” a lot sooner than I was hoping.
